Geno's Cheese Steaks

A long time ago (and presently), in a city far far away (Philadelphia)...lies two places that have been at war. The city thrives off of this food that requires bread, cheese, and steak. Most of the time you can make the addition of onions, but it's your choice. At one corner we have Geno's Steaks, and in the other corner we have Pat's Steaks.

Now many people in Philadelphia have many different opinions about what cheese steaks they like. Pat's seems to be the favorite among most of the people I know, but a lot of people like Geno's, as well. Geno's features one slab of meat, cheese of your choice, and bread. Oh and I forgot, you have to be able to speak English to get anything there. They also serve some mean cheese fries, according to some Philadelphians. At Pat's they feature a large portion of chopped steak with the cheese of your choice and bread.

The activities office put together a great time by bringing students to Geno's and Pat's steaks. Students had their choice of steak shops, but most students chose Pat's. After asking a few students which they preferred, the majority said that Pat's was the better cheese steak to chomp down on.

They both feature a unique look as well. Geno's place has many bright lights and flashes; it kind of looks like a gigantic Christmas tree, which attracts people to buy cheese steaks at their place. Pat's features that old school Philadelphia look; it kind of looks like a little corner shop from the early 1900's. It has a true look to it, and better cheese steaks, according to some. Looks like you don't need flashy lights to have the better cheese steak. I guess it goes back to the old saying don't judge a book by it's a cover.

People are very serious about their cheese steaks in Philadelphia. Any random diner, in other states, serves a cheese steak, and they will give it the name "Philly Cheese Steak," but we Philadelphians know it's not the real deal. If you want authentic cheese steaks, and not ones that choke(...cough Phillies...cough) then head to south Philly to tickle your taste buds.

It truly will be a war throughout the years, but it serves as a great rivalry and tradition for the city of Philadelphia. Thank you to the activities office for putting together an event that made our taste buds go simply wild.
