With the help of the Alumni Association you can add another customization to your life: the Holy Family University License Plate. Now making it's third attempt, the Holy Family Alumni Association is trying to get an official Holy Family license plate approved by PennDOT. This Holy Family license plate will show your school spirit. Other colleges, such as Temple and Penn State, already have official license plates; one to grace our vehicles is long overdue.
But what will this lovely license plate have to offer as far as design? According to Timothy Miller, the Alumni Student Liaison, the license plate will feature the school's seal along with 'Holy Family University' printed across the bottom of the plate. If I had a car I wouldn't mind showing off my pride in being a part of this family.
To get a plate, one must be connected to Holy Family in some capacity and he/she must have their car registered in Pennsylvania. Students, faculty, staff, donors, alumni, and even family members are allowed to display this license plate on their vehicles. Although this seems like a great idea, it has yet to be executed. The license plate for Holy Family is a concept over ten years old because of the lack of participation. In order for PennDOT to approve a Holy Family license plate, the Alumni Association needs to gather 300 signatures on their petition. Although that is a large number of people, Holy family has become big and strong enough to finally make this idea become a reality.
To sign the Holy Family License Plate Petition, send a brief e-mail to alumni@holyfamily.edu or tmiller@holyfamily.edu. In the e-mail include your name, address, and your affiliation to Holy Family University. (Student, alumni, etc) Again, you must have your car registered in Pennsylvania. After that all you can do is pester your friends, family, and professors if you really want this license plate. If and when the petition hits the mark of 300 signatures, the plate will be approved by PennDOT and the production will begin. Those who have signed the petition will be contacted to fill out the necessary application that will transfer his/her automobile's registration from their current license plate to their brand new Holy Family license plate. Once you complete this form, it must be takes to the Alumni Office so they can approve it and you can pay the fee, $30, for the plate. $10.00 will go to the Alumni Association.
