Little Voice

Well she didn't write us a love song cause we asked for it, but it's a good thing she did. This up and coming artist from ULCA has been gaining a lot of attention recently for her ground-breaking new album, 'Little Voice.' She's also featured on a new commercial for Rhapsody on TiVo, and is touring with Maroon 5 and the Counting Crows over the summer, following her tour with James Blunt. It's safe to say that this rising star isn't backing down, and thus why Sara Bareilles has been named April's Artist of the Month.

Sara has said that she has been writing songs "as long as I can remember." She grew up in Northern California on acres of those notorious Redwood trees. She sang in her high school choir and did some local theatre, but after a move to L.A. to study Communications at UCLA, she realized her true passion for singing and songwriting. "I can't imagine what else to do with my head and the things that are in it besides write songs," said Bareilles in her autobiography on her website. Her sound is a mix of Norah Jones, Fiona Apple, and Sarah McLaughlin.

If you haven't bought her CD yet, I urge you to grab a copy. All songs are written by Sara herself, and are a catchy addition to your day-to-day activities. "Love Song" has been on the radio for weeks now, gaining fans, and recently, "Gravity" was released on the radio. Personally, I'm a fan of "Good Girls" and "One Sweet Love," but there's something about "Bottle It Up" that makes me think it could be another smash radio hit. Sara has also appeared on Soundtracks to such films as "Girl Play," "Loving Annabelle," and "Monster-in-Law."

Want to see her live? You can't, unless you already have tickets. She will be playing a sold-out show in Philadelphia on April 24 with James Blunt, but she'll be back in August to play with Maroon 5 and the Counting Crows at the Susquehanna Bank Center - formerly known as The Tweeter Center - on the Camden Waterfront. Tickets are on sale now! Make sure that you hear this 'little voice' that is April's You Outta Know Artist of the Month.
